The Department of Christian and Islamic Civilizations offers General and Honours Degrees in Christian Civilization.

 

  • BA General Degree (90 Credits) – 03 Years

BA General Degree

Objective

BA in Christian Civilization General Degree programme aims at providing an overall knowledge of Christian Civilization focusing on developing skills and attitudes needed for the contemporary world, inculcating a critical and constructive perspective and obliging mindset needed for a pluralistic context.

An Overview of Bachelor of Arts General Degree Programme (Old & New Curricula)

For General Degree, according to the old structure of the Faculty of Arts, a student can select any two disciplines and follow the courses provided and complete the degree within three years by obtaining a minimum of 90 credits. However, according to the new curriculum, the students who are allocated to the Faculty of Arts offer Christian Civilization as one of the three subjects (study disciplines) for the BA Degree. Out of the 90 credits, they will earn a minimum of 22 credits in Christian Civilization. The department offers core and elective courses every semester, and the faculty (Faculty of Arts) foundational, supplementary and auxiliary courses. Those who follow the BA degree programme are expected to write a ‘Project & Report’ in their third year in one of the three subject areas they follow.

BA Honours in Christian Civilization

Objective

BA (Honours) in Christian Civilization programme aims at providing to the students a comprehensive view of the Christian religion from its inception to the present day considering it as a civilization that has a deep influence on the history of humankind and focuses on developing in them skills and attitudes needed for the contemporary world, inculcating a critical and constructive perspective and a harmonious mindset needed in a pluralistic context.

 

For the Honours Degree, according to the old structure of the Faculty of Arts, a student can select any two disciplines in the first year and follow the courses provided and in the second year specialize in one of them and complete the degree within four years by obtaining a minimum of 120 credits. According to the new structure, a student can select any three disciplines in the first year and follow the courses provided and in the second year specialize in one of them. The students who obtain an average of 3.00 GPA in the first year could choose to follow the Honours Degree Programme and complete the degree within four years by obtaining a minimum of 120 credits. 

Out of the 120 credits required during the four years of study, they have to earn 108 credits by studying Christian Civilization. Other credits are earned by the foundational, supplementary and auxiliary course units offered by the Faculty of Arts. The students are expected to conduct a research beginning second semester of the third year, and present a dissertation in the fourth year. An internship is offered by the department of Christian Civilization to the students following the honours degree during the second semester of the fourth year.
