On February 27, 2024, selected students from the Department of Christian Civilization, University of Jaffna, participated in a Leadership Programme organized by the Jaffna Regional Student Christian Movement (SCM). The event, held from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Technology Building of St. John’s College, Jaffna, aimed to cultivate leadership skills, Christian values, and collaborative engagement among students.

The programme brought together students from the University of Jaffna and St. John’s College, fostering an environment of shared learning and ecumenical dialogue. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and workshops, participants were encouraged to reflect on their roles as Christian leaders in their communities. The event provided valuable insights into leadership principles, teamwork, and faith-based social engagement, aligning with the objectives of both the SCM and the Department of Christian Civilization.

A notable highlight of the programme was the Annual General Meeting of the Jaffna Regional SCM, where Mr. J. Danstan, a student from the Department, was elected as the official representative for the Jaffna Regional SCM. His election marks an important milestone, ensuring continued collaboration between the Department and SCM in fostering youth leadership and spiritual development.

The Department of Christian Civilization acknowledges the significance of such initiatives and remains committed to equipping students with theological knowledge, ethical leadership skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility. This leadership programme served as an enriching experience, empowering students to actively contribute to their communities and uphold Christian values in contemporary society.
