The Department of Christian Civilization at the University of Jaffna formally inaugurated the English Proficiency Course for Students of Christian Studies on 1 March 2025 at the De Mazenod Campus. Designed to strengthen language skills and enhance academic confidence, the programme brought together eighteen undergraduate students from the department. The inaugural session included five second year students, four third year students, and nine final year students, reflecting the department’s commitment to supporting learners across different stages of study. 

Over the course of the year, participants engaged in structured sessions aimed at improving their proficiency in English, equipping them with essential tools for scholarly communication and global engagement. The programme culminated in the awarding ceremony held on 6 December 2025, celebrating the successful completion of the course. Students received recognition for their dedication and progress, marking the event as a milestone in the department’s ongoing efforts to integrate skill development with academic formation.

The Department of Christian Civilization expressed its appreciation to all participants and facilitators, noting that the initiative has strengthened the academic profile of Christian Studies students and prepared them to contribute meaningfully in both local and international contexts.
