In 2025, the Department of Christian Civilization at the University of Jaffna successfully organized a series of ceremonies to mark both the beginning and completion of the academic journey of its students. These events reflected the department’s commitment to nurturing community spirit, celebrating milestones, and guiding students through their formative years of study.
On 9 April 2025, the department hosted a Welcome Ceremony for Level I students of the 2023 intake, alongside a Farewell Ceremony for Level IV students of the 2022 intake. The dual celebration symbolized the continuity of academic life, as new students were warmly received into the department while graduating students were honoured for their achievements and prepared to embark on their future paths.
Later in the year, on 11 December 2025, the department once again brought together its community for a Welcome Ceremony for Level I students of the 2024 intake and a Farewell Ceremony for Level IV students of the 2023 intake. These ceremonies highlighted the department’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment where students are encouraged at the outset of their studies and celebrated at the conclusion of their academic journey.
Both occasions were marked by speeches, reflections, and expressions of gratitude, reinforcing the values of fellowship, academic excellence, and mutual encouragement. The Department of Christian Civilization emphasized that such ceremonies are not merely formalities but meaningful traditions that strengthen the bonds between students, faculty, and the wider university community.
