On 22 May 2026 at 1.00 p.m., the Department of Christian & Islamic Civilizations organized a special academic input session titled “Academic Insights into Historical Study and Documentation” at the Department Lecture Hall.

The talk was delivered by Rev. Fr. Martin, a Catholic priest and historical researcher from the Chengalpattu Diocese, Tamil Nadu, India. The event was attended by lecturers and students of the Department of Christian Civilization.

In his address, Rev. Fr. Martin emphasized the significance and objectives of historical research, highlighting the importance of careful study and preservation of historical records and manuscripts. He elaborated on the value of historical documents as vital sources for understanding the religious, cultural, and social histories of communities and traditions. He further explained that such study enables individuals to gain deeper insights into their identity, heritage, ethnicity, religion, and historical roots.

The lecture encouraged students to actively engage in historical research and cultivate a greater interest in academic inquiry and archival studies. As part of the programme, several Tamil-language books relevant to Christian studies were donated to support and enhance the reading culture and academic development of students. The event concluded successfully with a fellowship lunch provided for the guests.
